Welcome Reverend Gretchen!

We are pleased to announce that Rev. Gretchen Elmendorf will be our Sabbatical Pastor while Pastor Bernie is away.

Rev. Gretchen comes to us from her home in North Attleboro and her work as Hospice Chaplain in Providence. Her home church is Bethany Congregational in Foxboro, and she has been Minister to the Community for several years. She has strong ties to the UCC Massachusetts Conference, where she serves as an active member and leader of the MACUCC Commission of New Church Start, Church Vitality and Evangelism.

Rev. Gretchen will be leading worship regularly through mid-June, then will be alternating with lay leaders throughout the summer. She will attend Deacons, Standing, and FOCUS meetings during her time with us. Though she works full-time, she is available through the church office.

We are blessed to have her with us on our mutual faith journey.

Pastor Bernie trying out the Trike

As the TYG program continues to grow and develop it will be important for the youth group to continue to provide the youth of the community quality programming, equipment and opportunities for further outreach.

This event will also assist the Norton Public Library’s summer reading program by providing additional award materials for those who participate in the Summer Reading Program.

We will be raffling off our “trike” at the conclusion of the event. Tickets will cost one dollar each. The money raised from raffling off the trike will be donated to the Trinitarian Congregational Church’s oil fund for 2012/2013.

Pastor Bernie on Sabbatical

To honor the Pastoral Call Agreement signed by the congregation almost seven years ago, and in recognition of the unusually over-reaching, 24/7/365 nature of a minister’s job, TCC is pleased to announce that Reverend Hinckley will be on Sabbatical starting on April 23. He will be on Sabbatical for three months, then will add his regular family vacation time onto the end. He will be returning to TCC on August 13.

His plans include an extended reading workshop in Colorado, attending a variety of local worship services, and spending time with family and friends. He will bring back to TCC new ideas for worship experience and for building and maintaining a faith community. He welcomes this opportunity to become renewed, recharged, and rejuvenated.

We will continue to be challenged with self-examination and self-renewal, both as individuals and as a congregation. The FOCUS discussions will continue, lead by the Sabbatical Minister who will add new insight.

We send Bernie off with warm wishes and look forward to reconnecting with him in August.
