The Standing Committee of TCC is made up devoted individuals who are members of the church, including 5 elected members, and representatives from each committee. Standing Committee works to plan, coordinate and promote the ministries of our faith community while overseeing its financial responsibilities. The Standing Committee also supports the Pastor, committees and members in every endeavor to benefit the Church and its missions.
Board of Deacons
The Board of Deacons consists of church members whose mission is to oversee the spiritual growth of the church. The committee meets each month to discuss the spiritual life of the church and to develop ideas on how to improve and expand spiritual outreach. Deacons are responsible for taking up the collection, preparing the sanctuary for services, and assisting with Communion. They visit members of the church, send cards, plan fellowship events and generally support the minister in responding to the needs of church members and the community.
The Chancel Committee aspires to connect congregants with Sunday services in the sanctuary through altar decoration and adornment. With guidance from the minister, they follow the liturgical calendar for color and seasons. They work together with those who sign up for specific dates on color, flower/plant preference, holiday flower ordering, and choices of crosses, candles and cloths. In addition, they deliver dedicated floral gifts to those at home, nursing facilities, and hospitals so that they may continue to experience a community bond with our congregation.
Christian Education Committee
The Board of Christian Education is responsible for educational and youth ministries of the Church. The Board of Christian Education secures teachers for each classroom (nursery care, and Sunday School classes for pre-school through 8th grade) and works together with the teacher to provide a fun and interactive Christian learning experience for our youth. The Board meets monthly to discuss classroom development and curriculum and to develop several activities for the youth held throughout the year. The Board also oversees the TYG Trinitarian Youth Group for grades 4-8, youth mission projects, confirmation class and adult education programs.
The Memorial committee formally receives and acknowledges gifts given in memory of Church members and friends — either at the time of their deaths or ongoing. For those gifts made to the church that are undesignated, this committee works to find appropriate uses for such funds. The committee keeps a record of all Memorial gifts given to the church and works together to respectfully carry forth the wishes of the gifts given to our church for the betterment of our church and church family.
Here’s a copy of our Memorial Dedication from the service on May 20, 2012.
Just as Jesus told Peter to take care of His followers, not just feed them, the Mission Committee at TCC ascribe to these words both literally and figuratively. We “feed” our congregation with options when it hungers to help others. We “feed” the local community by collecting recyclables for the homeless, supporting the food pantry with nonperishable goods, and serving meals at Food ‘n Friends. And we “feed” the many needs of the community by supporting Our Church’s Wider Mission and assisting local families in need.
The Music Committee of TCC oversees the music ministry of the church. They are responsible for the positions of the Church Organist, Choir Director and Bell Choir Director as well as accompanists for a variety of services throughout the year. They work together to handle the maintenance of church musical instruments and provide support for any concerns regarding music. In addition, the committee conducts fundraisers to help further support the church’s music ministry.
The Property Committee at TCC is responsible for the care and maintenance of all church buildings, including the parsonage. The committee works with the Standing Committee to hire the appropriate contractors for work needed to our facilities.
Pastoral Relations Committee
The Pastoral Relations Committee works to foster the continued growth of a healthy relationship between the congregation and pastor. This committee meets with the pastor on a quarterly basis to share the hopes, goals and concerns for both pastor and congregation and works to uplift the pastor on his faith journey with TCC. Annually, the committee evaluates the ongoing relationship with attention to personal policies and practices, along with expectations in order for the church to be responsible to the person called to be both pastor and teacher and to shape the path of the spiritual life of the church.
